Scary Things turned 1 today!
The terrace doors of the opulent Intercontinental Carlton Cannes hotel on the French Riviera were supposed to be locked.
But before lunchtime on the last Sunday of July, a thief—whose face was obscured with a bandanna and a motorcycle helmet—managed to slip through them and directly into an exhibition room loaded with millions of dollars worth of Leviev diamonds, “the world’s most extraordinary.” Armed with an automatic pistol and an uncanny familiarity with the setting, the mystery bandit began his heist.

Canine Carnival 2013 Recap
On Saturday, August 3rd, a team of Badass volunteers and doggies took a road trip to Syracuse, NY to participate in our third annual Canine Carnival - a really phenomenal adoption extravaganza that happens every year upstate where hundreds of dogs find forever homes. Badasses Mary Lou Retton, Rudy Ruettiger, Otis Redding, and Taylor Dayne all joined the list of pups who made the adoption magic happen at this event and are living Badass lives with great families. Many thanks to the crew who worked so hard to make our 2013 appearance a success. We can’t wait until next year!

If you feel that your old skin care routine just isn’t working for you anymore, it may be time to take an honest look at what you do on a daily basis, to take care of your skin. If you find that your routines need some work, it may be a simple matter of adding a few fresh ideas from the tips below. Dry skin is a problem for many people, especially during the winter months. To keep skin moisturized, avoid hot water, as this will dry out your skin even further. When taking showers, or washing your face and hands, always use lukewarm water. And remember to apply moisturizer liberally, while the skin is still slightly damp. Before using a new skincare product all over your body, it is advisable to apply a small amount of the product to a hidden part of your skin first. That way, if an allergic reaction does occur, only a small amount of skin will be damaged. Remember, products that contain natural organic ingredients can still be irritating. Tea tree oil, lavender oil, lemon juice and chamomile often provoke an allergic reaction on sensitive skin. If you have oily skin, then there are products out there for your specific skin type. You should opt for a gel cleanser to absorb oil and use a light moisturizer or serum with included sunscreen specifically labeled for oily skin. At any point in your day, you can also use oil blotting sheets to blot away excess oil to make your skin look and feel less oily. If you want to pamper your skin on a budget, you should try an at-home facial. The steps in the process are first to cleanse, exfoliate, open your pores, and apply a mask for about 10 minutes. While the mask is on, relax and treat your eyes with either cucumber slices or freshly steeped tea bags. Finally, rinse the mask and then apply moisturizer to you skin. To help keep your skin looking its best, never go to bed with makeup or sunscreen on. Something that’s been on your face all day is full of dirt and germs, and that can lead to breakouts. Even if you think you are too tired, be sure to wash your face before you go to sleep. If you are going to get expert advice about skin care, talk directly to a dermatologist. Research shows that primary physicians are much less likely to detect abnormal skin conditions than the experts in the field of dermatology. It may cost a little extra, but if you are concerned, it will be money well spent in the end. If you notice that white bumps have appeared on the skin under your eyes, don’t worry. They are the harmless indication that you have an excess of dead skin cells under your eyes. If you want to get rid of them, do not exfoliate since this can damage the paper-thin skin that sits just above your cheekbones. Instead, use an eye product with vitamin A, which will gently slough away the bumps. Talk with a doctor before mixing over the counter and prescription products. Combining too many different ingredients can wreak havoc on your skin. It is important not to overly dry out the skin with loads of chemicals. Dermatologists usually recommend using both prescription and non-prescription products, but you should always confirm with your doctor that the products work together in harmony. As was stated at the beginning, it may be time to freshen up your old skin care routine with some new ideas. The tips in the article above can be just what you need to see better looking skin in a small amount of time. Give one or more of them a try today.
